Plans have been approved for the conversion of a first floor commercial floorspace into residential units.
The floorspace above Poundstretcher at 67 High Street in Maldon will be turned into homes.
The ground floor shop will remain unchanged but the floor above will be converted into two two-bedroom, one storey flats.
The drawings show each flat will contain two bathrooms and a generous open plan living, dining and kitchen area.
Both master bedrooms in each of the flats have a walk in wardrobe and skylights above the kitchen areas in both flats.
The flats will be entered to the rear of the property with an area of flat roofing, labelled as amenity space.
The existing space is an open room used for commercial storage.
During the planning stage the applicant didn’t consider that the future occupants would be materially harmed from noise from commercial premises.
Maldon District Council made the decision to approve the plans for the development of the flats.
